Join us as we delve into the details of this remarkable elopement story and explore why Colorado is the perfect backdrop for your own intimate wedding.

from the couple:

“We couldn’t be happier with our decision to book Caleb (and Amy) as our photo/videographer. They were so helpful with planning and helped find the perfect spots for our elopement. They also were able to keep an eye on the weather and trail conditions leading up to our day to be better prepared with plans. They made us both feel very comfortable and helped make our day even more perfect!

Caleb’s work is AMAZING. When I was researching who to use, I kept coming back to Caleb because of his style and abilities. He was also very responsive when I reached out (a few others were very slow/didn’t respond for weeks). I really appreciated how on top of communication they were.

If you need photo/video for your day, don’t hesitate!”

Preparing for the Adventure: A Cozy Cabin Retreat

Mindy and Dustin's day began in a cozy mountain cabin outside the town of Alta, Colorado, a perfect starting point for their elopement adventure. Nestled in the serene Colorado wilderness, the cabin provided a tranquil space for the couple to prepare for their big day and share an emotional first look in the evergreens surrounding the property. While we all had diligently prepped and prepared for the day, the weather in Colorado was not without it’s surprises. As M and D prepared in the cabin a subtle storm slowly rolled in overhead. Within minutes it was softly raining and adding to the ambience. We decided a little rain would not stop our day and we continued on as scheduled.

Embracing Mother Nature's Surprises: Hoosier Pass Ceremony

The next chapter of their adventure took them to Hoosier Pass, the chosen location for their intimate ceremony. As they made their way to the pass, the landscape unfolded with stunning vistas, building the anticipation for the heartfelt moments that lay ahead. However Mother Nature had a surprise in store for Mindy and Dustin—that soft rain turned into a heavy snowfall up on the pass despite it being the end of May. The couple and their beloved dog, Mort, were greeted by a magical snowfall that transformed their ceremony into an enchanting winter wonderland. It was a moment they had always dreamed of, and Colorado delivered in grand style.

Undeterred by the falling snow, Mindy and Dustin found a beautiful spot amidst the snow-covered mountains to exchange their personal hand-written vows. Their love, warmed by the presence of Mort, shone brightly against the snowy backdrop and the moody fog that enveloped the mountain ranges. A mountain fox came by to visit, which was just another magical and unexpected moment nature surprised us with that day.

Sunset Picnic at Clinton Gulch Reservoir: A Romantic Finale

After their heartwarming ceremony, M & D hiked back to their car and headed to Clinton Gulch Reservoir for a sunset picnic. Despite the cloudy and foggy weather, the mountain range and the frozen lake provided a stunning backdrop. Here, Mindy and Dustin shared their first dance and enjoyed a romantic picnic, complete with a cake cutting. Their dog, Mort stamped his paw of approval by signing their marriage license as their witness, which is something that the self-solemnization rules in Colorado allow. The darkness began to over take us, and along with it came the true cold. We all packed up all of our things as to leave the land better than when we came and headed down the mountain with everyone in awe of the magic that the day just held for us.

Mindy and Dustin's snowy elopement in Colorado on May 31st, 2023, was a day filled with magic, love, and breathtaking scenery. It showcased the incredible possibilities that Colorado offers for couples seeking an intimate and unique wedding experience. Whether you dream of a snowy wonderland or another natural backdrop, Colorado is a treasure trove of picturesque settings for your elopement. Let Mindy and Dustin's story inspire you to embark on your own unforgettable journey, where love and nature converge in perfect harmony.
