Colorado Elopement Photography & Videography

Intentional, intimate elopements in the mountains and wild places of Colorado documented with presence, artistry, and care.

Elopements, Rooted in Intention

Elopements create space for what matters most — presence, connection, and the freedom to design a wedding day that reflects your relationship and personalities rather than outside expectations. Colorado elopements, in particular, offer a rare opportunity to combine intimacy with breathtaking natural landscapes, creating an experience that feels both grounded and expansive.

My role is to help plan and prepare you before the day, guide gently and direct when needed, remain calm and observant, and preserve the story as it actually happens.

The result is an elopement day that feels authentic and personal to you, yet honors the immense depth and connection of your relationship woven into the natural landscape.

Elopements call for a different pace one rooted in presence, trust, and flexibility. My approach to elopement photography and videography is centered on creating space for the experience to unfold naturally, without pressure, performance, or unnecessary structure.

I focus on gentle guidance, quiet observation, and connecting with you as a couple. I help shape the flow of the day when needed - from timing and light to location transitions while leaving room for real emotion, spontaneity, and connection. The goal is for you to feel grounded and supported, not managed or rushed.

Because elopements often take place in remote or unfamiliar environments, I bring a calm, prepared presence and a deep respect for the landscapes we’re moving through. Every decision is made with intention honoring both the place you’ve chosen and the meaning of the commitment you’re making there.

The result is elopement imagery that feels honest, immersive, and deeply personal. Photographs and films that don’t just document where you went, but reflect how the day felt unhurried, connected, and entirely your own.

For a deeper look at how I approach storytelling across weddings and elopements, you can explore my full approach here.

My Approach to Elopements

Elopement Videography

Elopement films allow space for pacing, sound, and atmosphere to take center stage. My approach to elopement videography is cinematic but restrained built around real moments, natural audio, and intentional movement.

Each film is shaped by your story and the environment you’re in, creating something immersive and deeply personal. The goal isn’t a highlight reel, but a film that allows you to return to the feeling of the day — the quiet, the wind, the laughter, the stillness — years into the future.

Elopement Photography

My elopement photography blends artistic composition with honest storytelling. I’m drawn to subtle moments, the tiniest of details, natural light, and the way people move and connect when the pressure is removed. From grandiose landscapes to intimate gestures, each image is crafted to feel personal emotional, and timeless.

Rather than following a formula, I respond to the rhythm of the day allowing space for stillness, spontaneity, and authenticity. The result is a visual record that reflects not just how your elopement looked from the outside, but how it felt to be there in the present no matter how many years removed you are from the day.

A Thoughtful, Unified Approach

A couple standing by a mountain lake, with snow-capped peaks, dense forest, and a cloudy sky in the background. The woman is wearing a white wedding dress, and the man is in a dark suit.

Photography and videography can be booked individually or together. When combined, they’re approached as one cohesive story — not separate services competing for attention. This unified workflow creates a calmer experience and a consistent visual language across both mediums.

Whether still or moving, the focus remains the same: presence, honesty, and intentional storytelling.

  • Want their elopement to feel intentional and unhurried

Colorado Elopements

Based in Buena Vista, Colorado, I photograph and film elopements throughout the Rocky Mountains, including Estes Park, Telluride, Boulder, Breckenridge, Vail, Aspen, Rocky Mountain National Park, and surrounding alpine regions. These landscapes offer a rare range of environments. From quiet mountain lakes and dense forests to wide-open valleys and dramatic peaks; Colorado is an ideal place for elopements rooted in intention and connection amidst stunning natural scenery.

Destination Elopements beyond Colorado are also welcomed.

Guidance Beyond the Camera

Each location brings its own rhythm, light, and opportunities, and I approach every elopement with respect for both the landscape and the experience you’re creating within it. Whether your day is simple and secluded or includes a small group of loved ones, my focus remains the same: to document the elopement in a way that feels calm, grounded, and true to your story the place you chose.

While Colorado is home, I also photograph and film destination elopements beyond the state. Wherever your elopement takes place, the approach stays consistent — thoughtful guidance, steady presence, and storytelling that reflects both the environment and the meaning of the commitment you’re making.

Planning an elopement can feel unfamiliar — and that’s okay. Every elopement package includes thoughtful guidance to help you navigate location options, timing, permits, logistics, and how to shape the day around what matters most to you.

My goal is to make the process feel calm, supported, and intentional — so you can be fully present in the experience, not managing it.

Let’s Create Something That’s Yours

If you’re planning an elopement rooted in intention, connection, and place, I’d love to hear what’s been drawing you toward this kind of day.

You don’t need a complete plan or a fixed vision — just an honest sense of what feels meaningful to you and how you want your elopement to feel.

From there, we’ll take things one step at a time, shaping an experience that feels grounded, personal, and true to who you are — not a template or expectation.

If that approach resonates, this is a beautiful place to begin.

KIND WORDS

KIND WORDS

  • "Caleb Clayton Film and Photo was PERFECT for our helicopter elopement in Alaska! We originally found Caleb and Amy from a recommendation from our elopement photographer. We checked out their website and watched their films and were pumped to get on a Zoom call to meet Caleb and Amy to make sure it was the right fit. They had an awesome vibe that we wanted at our elopement. Booking was super easy. Caleb and Amy kept in touch in the months leading up to our elopements. The amazingly positive and chill vibes that Caleb and Amy brought to our elopement day were AMAZING. They are just so kind and cool people, which is a huge reason why we hired them in the first place. And the film...Absolutely EPIC. It captured all of the moments from the day, but more importantly it portrayed the vibe and feels. It had a perfect combination of wide, details, getting ready, drone, adventure, and ceremony clips, all edited wonderfully with our vows overlaid. It is so good! Caleb Clayton Film + Photo CRUSHED it! I 100% recommend Caleb and Amy for your adventure elopement!"

  • "Having the opportunity to work with Caleb has been an absolute dream! Not only is he extremely responsive and professional, but his work is amazing! He captured our day just as we had envisioned, and you can truly feel how amazing of a day we had through the video. My husband & I did an adventure elopement and he encouraged and was just as excited for our adventures as we were. He made us feel so comfortable. I would recommend him 100000 times over. It’s a memory I look forward to treasuring for years. When you get that gut feeling that he’s the one you need, listen to it! You seriously won’t regret it!"

  • "If you are thinking about booking Caleb for your wedding film or photos, let me just help you right now…The answer is a resounding YES! Caleb is AMAZING. He is a brilliant artist, an absolute professional and most of all he is a legitimately cool person. Caleb joined my husband and I on our full day elopement in Yosemite, he spent the entire day with us and his presence was one of the highlights of our day. When he sent our film over, we watched it three times in a row and cried every single time. We legitimately could not have asked for a better experience. We’re planning on saving our film to show our friends and family at our reception in a few weeks, but it has been SO SO hard to keep it secret because we love it so much. We can’t thank Caleb and Amy enough for sharing our special day with us, and for leaving us with art to last a lifetime."

  • "We recently hired Caleb to capture our adventure elopement through videography, and the experience as a whole was incredible. He was extremely responsive and informative throughout the planning process, and he was punctual and prepared on the day of our wedding. He put us at ease in front of the camera, and it was like hiking with a friend. While we're still waiting on the finished video, we couldn't be more thrilled with our experience thus far. Highly recommend to any couple, or individual wanting to capture an important moment in their lives."

  • "CALEB IS THE BEST EVER!!! Where do we even begin to say how much we loved working with Caleb? We recently eloped in Moab, Utah and hiring Caleb was the easiest decision we made when planning our elopement for videography. Not only is he one of the most down to earth people we met but he’s wildly talented and put so much thought and creativity into our film and it shows. It was like watching one of the coolest movies of our life. We cry every time we watch it and so does our family haha. Since we eloped, we didn’t have family with us, and Caleb made us feel so special, celebrated, and it was like having a friend along with us on such a big an momentous day. We are so thankful we had Caleb Clayton Film + Photo to help make our day come to life and have it to look back on the rest of our lives. We would gladly recommend to anyone in a heart beat!! Look no further, YOU MUST HIRE HIM!!"

  • Yes! Definitely. I’m married and had a wedding, so I understand the stress of wedding budgets. To help with that, I’m extremely flexible on how couples choose to pay and when. The only required payment upfront is the 50% of the package price non-refundable retainer to book the date. After that, my only requirement is that the remaining balance is paid in full at least one week before the date of the event. Monthly or bi-monthly payment plans with reminders can be set up upon request!

  • Absolutely. As one of my favorite songwriters of all time (David Bazan) sings “Either way, you are worthy of love. you are worthy of love.” everyone has a story to tell and everyone is worthy of love whether that’s between people of the same gender or not. For aerial coverage, I use a DJI Mavik II Pro.

I edit in Lightroom & Photoshop for photography and use Final Cut Pro X for all video editing on a 15” Macbook Pro 2023.

  • Weather is always a factor with mountain elopements. In our experience, unless conditions are truly unsafe, the best approach is usually to continue with the scheduled date and adapt to the weather rather than cancel. This might mean finding shelter from wind or rain, adjusting locations, or shifting coverage timing to work around changing weather patterns.

We often encourage couples to embrace the weather as part of the experience — rain, snow, or mist can add a powerful, unforgettable atmosphere to your day. We’ve photographed elopements in all kinds of conditions, and while they aren’t always ideal, they often become some of the most memorable moments.

If severe or unsafe weather does arise, there is flexibility with elopements. As long as both parties are available, we can look at moving the elopement to another day. With you being in the area for the week and us nearby as well, that option would be available if needed.
