A Denver Botanic Gardens Wedding: Michelle & Adam's Love Story
Nestled in the heart of Denver, the historic Denver Botanic Gardens offers a picturesque backdrop for couples seeking an intimate and enchanting wedding celebration. Hailing from Pueblo, Colorado, Michelle and Adam chose the Botanical Gardens as their wedding destination as a convenient location for their closest friends and family to travel to and still be able capture the love and beauty they have for nature despite being in an urban setting.
Preparing for a Day of Enchantment
On September 29, 2023, Michelle and Adam embarked on their journey to forever amidst the lush greenery of the Denver Botanic Gardens. The day began at the Clayton Hotel in downtown Denver, where Michelle, accompanied by her mother and their adorable dog, Stella - an adorable Pomeranian. We met up with Michelle and her mom at the Clayton to begin our day of coverage. The soft window lighting into the hotel room made for a simple yet dramatic mood to capture some emotional moments of anticipation as Michelle donned her wedding dress and made sure everything was ready for the day that would be filed with love and emotion. We even got to use little Stella, as a setting for some of Michelle’s details since Stella would not be attending the wedding the rest of the day after the hotel. Once Michelle was all dressed and ready, we took some moody and creative portraits of her in the soft light of the room as well as behind the hotel room’s shower window-not your average place to take bridal portraits, but Michelle had originally reached out to me because she admired my artistry and moody style and was totally down for some non-traditional photos. While the schedule allowed us just a short time for this portion as we had to all drive over to the Botanical Gardens after this, the moment and feelings of excited anticipation during this morning Michelle had with her mom will be timeless in remembering the story of their day.
Capturing Moments in Nature's Embrace
Denver Botanic Garden Weddings can be held in a variety of different pre-determined locations around the venue depending on the scope and size of the wedding as well as the weather that day. Since Michelle and Adam were having an intimate wedding, or what we would refer to as a Micro Wedding with under 15 guests, the Botanic Gardens provided them with the Woodland Mosaic Solarium - an old style metal greenhouse hidden in the the lush greenery of the gardens for their celebration. As a Denver Wedding Photographer, the Woodland Mosaic was an absolute stunning setting to shoot it no matter what time if the day. The surrounding canopy of the garden tree provided shade to the Mosaic, yet the plethora of windows in the Mosaic gave enough natural light to capture some beautiful tones. As Michelle and Adam exchanged vows in the Woodland Mosaic Solarium, the serene beauty of the Botanical Gardens served as a breathtaking backdrop while their guests looked on. The vows were emotional. The ceremony was short and sweet and the happiness and joy of the couple was felt throughout this special moment.
A Magical Evening Under the Stars
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the Woodland Mosaic Solarium transformed into a magical dinner space, adorned with twinkling fairy lights and elegant decor. The Denver Botanic Gardens is an all-in-one venue that provides the catering as well as the design and table decor for any wedding held in on the garden’s grounds. After the ceremony we did some formal photos of the newlywed couple with their family and guests and then had the opportunity to take the bride and groom around the gardens for some portraits of just them while the Mosaic was transformed into the dinner space. Michelle and Adam had a vision of a magical and moody fairy tale for their wedding photos and the dark greens of the gardens combined with the gentle light if the sun setting on the horizon provided us just that. Michelle’s own mother had crafted her bouquet out of succulents and diamonds - a nod to their heritage that worked perfectly with the garden setting. We walked around to various parts of the Denver Botanic Gardens to find beautiful places for photos among the greenery and florals. After the session, dinner was served as dusk set in. Guests reveled in the enchanting atmosphere, sharing laughter and creating cherished memories under the starlit sky. The evening concluded with dancing, a cake cutting ceremony, some acoustic entertainment from a favorite and local musician and a sense of profound joy that lingered long into the night.
Michelle and Adam's Colorado garden wedding epitomizes the timeless union of love and nature. From the intimate moments shared amidst the vibrant greenery to the artistic vision captured by Me, a Denver wedding photographer, their celebration serves as a testament to the enchanting beauty found within the heart of Denver, Colorado. As they embark on this new chapter of their lives together, their love story continues to inspire others to embrace the magic of nature's embrace in an urban setting.
