“We loved working with Caleb! I initially found him by searching for a Colorado elopement photographer. From the first call, Caleb was so helpful with creating a timeline for our day that best suited what we were looking for. He suggested items we could bring and brought some of his own to add into some of the photos.
Leading up to the day of the elopement, Caleb kept in touch and made sure all of the final details were set. On the day of, there was an unexpected complication with our ceremony location. Caleb immediately called and told us to follow him. Little did we know, Caleb had arrived hours before and scouted multiple locations, including the one that ended up being our ceremony spot. Knowing he had a plan before I could even worry was truly priceless, and the new location ended up being even
more amazing than what had been planned. Throughout the remainder of our time, he captured all of the photos I asked for, set us up for shots he had in mind, candids, photos with the items we brought, the scenery, and the wildlife. On the way to one of the preselected spots, he saw another spot that the light was hitting perfectly. He had us circle back and he took the most amazing photos.

“There are so many decisions to make for your special day, to make it meaningful and memorable. Choosing Caleb Clayton for our film and photos was hands down the best part of our experience. We chose to elope to have a private ceremony, so we could be present as possible in the moment. Caleb and his wife Amy are a power team that made this day way better than we envisioned, by having meetings to help tailor the day to who we are as a couple. They helped us with choosing the perfect destination and even assisted with planning the flow of the day.
You know you picked the right crew when they are all in for waking up at 3am to hike 8 miles round trip, to get the most stunning sunrise shots at an alpine lake. While also being there for capturing intimate sunset moments. Their calm personalities are filled with pure enthusiasm for their craft, which brought ease to our nerve filled day, and at moments we forgot we had others around us.
What I love the most about our photos are they captured us in the most natural ways possible and when I look back on them, it encapsulates who we are as a couple but also brings me back to the emotions of the moment. “We were super fortunate in finding Caleb & Amy through a referral as we were looking for a fairly last-minute photography + videography booking for our elopement with just our closest family and friends in Joshua Tree. From the get-go, understanding that our wedding was only a few weeks away, Caleb & Amy were extremely accommodating in getting on a call with us that very day after linking up through email. Priscilla, my partner, and I felt at ease the moment we hopped on the video call with Caleb & Amy, and just based on our initial email exchange and brief intros, it felt like we were on the same page as far as the vibe and general planning of our wedding day. The follow up emails and video call all really helped to organize the day for us in our minds - this was really, really important for us as with our elopement (which was a small, intimate gathering of around 10 people), we didn't have a traditional planner to help us with the ins and outs of the day. In the lead up, the structure and plans that Caleb & Amy helped to paint not only set the tone for the shooting schedule, but also the day itself.
This was also right around the time that there were some issues with airports and flight cancellations, and while it didn't come to pass, they mentioned that if we came upon a worst-case scenario with a cancelled flight, they would be driving from Colorado to Southern California - that is some dedication to your professional commitments! Furthermore, it rarely rains out in the desert, but as luck would have it (truly), we were blessed with rain on our special day. Immediately, we got on another video call to discuss contingencies and what to generally expect, and honestly, both of us felt at-ease about our day - come rain or high water.
On the day of, it really was an absolute pleasure working with Caleb & Amy. Everyone felt at ease from the beginning, and it was just an awesome time taking the pictures and spending time throughout the day. In between Caleb & Amy giving us our cues to make sure they were getting the best shots, the conversations & company was great which helped do away with any feelings of anxiety & nothing ever felt forced, even in the slightest. Going back to the weather, it did indeed rain on and off throughout most of the day, but Caleb & Amy helped us navigate, and we would argue, got more out of the weather than the other way around! No time was wasted when we had moments of stillness whilst not ever feeling rushed about a thing. With both their experience and expertise, we were able to navigate our first look and vows by shuffling the plans a bit to suit the weather. It all worked out perfectly, we were always asked whether we were OK with this or that change, and honestly, whilst everything may not necessarily have gone according to plan, it went exactly as we would have wanted it! We had a brief 15 minute window of the rain stopping (Caleb & Amy were tracking the clouds & weather throughout), and we took that chance to go outside, exchange vows, and do our thing, which was always part of the plan. That whole sequence is one of my favorite memories from that day (on a day filled with such).
We've only had a chance to look at the sneak peek images so far, but wow! The pictures are stunning, and I daresay the duo's mastery of their craft & versatility is on full display with how the pictures came out given the various unexpected conditions we dealt with. The day would not have been what it was without their presence, and for this, we'll always be grateful. For anyone reading this & in need of an elopement photographer + videographer, do yourself a service and, at the very least, add Caleb & Amy to your (short) list of vendors to reach out to. “Caleb and Amy are some of the nicest most personable people you will ever meet. Far before my husband proposed to me he had been following Caleb’s work and the moment he found them he knew that they were going to do our elopement photos and video (no quotes and no other shopping around, they were it without a doubt). Then after he proposed he showed me their work and I also immediately agreed, they were exactly what we wanted!
During the elopement they were amazing! They know what they are doing and they were very open to all our thoughts and ideas while also knowing how to fill in the blanks and keep capturing every second of the magic. Our venue, the San Juan mountains (one of several sites they recommended), was incredible but even that was outshined by their beautiful personalities! They made our special day so magical and made us feel like we’re were the only thing that mattered, which is exactly what every couple wants.
And now, after we’ve gotten our photos and our video, we are absolutely thrilled that we chose Caleb and Amy to capture this incredible day. We could not have asked for anything better. “When my Fiance I and initially decided to elope in Colorado we knew a local photographer was a must have, as we are not local nor had we ever travelled there. Risky choice, I know but were both suckers for an adventure. My first turn was to Instagram searching for hashtags and on elopement pages I had previously found while we were in our first stages of planning. Lo and behold I came across some of Caleb’s older works, moody black and white portraits that screamed of emotion and depth despite their lack of color. I shared several photos with my Fiance comparing to a few other photographers I had also found and we quickly decided that the choice was a no brainer.
The process was honestly the easiest thing about our elopement planning and I am forever grateful for all of the assistance both Caleb and Amy provided us in narrowing down places and our ultimate timeline. By the time we finally met them on elopement day it was like reuniting with old friends who you hadn’t seen in a while, which definitely helped to ease the inevitable day of nerves. There wasn’t a single moment of silence as we set out to hike the three miles to our vow location, even as Caleb continued to shoot and scout later locations for us to explore.
Looking back every bit of the day feels magical almost like a dream, a dream forever memorialized by the beautiful photos and footage captured. Among my favorites are two candid shots, one taken during a break on the initial hike featuring my fiancee and I uncontrollably laughing (at what, who knows) and the other of my hands thrown in the air screaming “we did it” just after finishing our vows and sealing it with a kiss.
All in all we could not possibly be happier with the decision of hiring Caleb and Amy. If you’re one for adventure I promise you will be too.”
