Some days in life hold the promise of profound, lasting memories. Such was the case on that warm and sunny early October day in eastern Colorado when Briege and Colton's wedding unfolded.

It all began with an inquiry from Briege through our contact form. At first glance, I thought she had misspelled "Ouray," a renowned spot in southwestern Colorado known for its majestic mountain ranges—a popular wedding and elopement destination. However, upon further review, I discovered that "Wray," Colorado, was a charming small town nestled on the eastern outskirts, close to the Nebraska border.

Briege and Colton embarked on a remarkable journey—they purchased an old, abandoned farmhouse with a vision to restore it and create a haven for rescued farm animals. Their wedding was not just a celebration of love but also an opportunity for family and friends to witness the beautiful life they were building together.

Amy and I felt deeply honored to be part of this unique experience, meeting Briege and Colton and sharing in their extraordinary day.

This heartwarming tale of love, commitment, and farm restoration in Wray, Colorado is one we'll cherish for years to come.

from the couple:

“Caleb was an absolute dream to work with, we hosted our wedding on our small farm in Colorado and it was so important for us to find someone to capture the spirit of the property and us as a couple. Caleb far exceeded our expectations and captured our day better than we could have dreamed. Caleb was beyond professional, reliable, easy to work with and made us feel like family. He made us both feel comfortable and made the entire process so much fun. Our wedding photos are absolute treasures to us and we are so grateful to have had Caleb photograph our day.”

B & C

A Unique Journey Begins

The long-awaited weekend arrived, and Amy and I embarked on a journey to a lesser-explored corner of Colorado. Unlike our usual westward wedding destinations, this time we found ourselves heading east, where Briege and Colton's warm hospitality awaited us on their picturesque farm.

Briege and Colton graciously allowed us to park our van on their farm for the weekend, sparing us the need to travel on the day of the wedding. Upon our arrival, we were immediately struck by their genuine personalities and open hearts. They warmly welcomed us into their world and gave us a tour of their farm, introducing us to their delightful rescue animals - pigs, goats, ducks, chickens, and an ever-growing pack of rescue dogs.

Crafting Every Detail with Love

The wedding day dawned clear and sunny, with the ceremony taking place behind their lovingly restored barn overlooking the vast, rolling plains to the west. Briege, embracing the DIY spirit, had meticulously crafted every aspect of her wedding, from her attire to the charming details adorning the reception area. A special touch was the exquisite macrame backdrop woven by a close friend for this unique occasion.

Our role as photographers provided us with a deeply intimate glimpse into their lives. We orchestrated a joyous and emotional first look in front of the very home they had lovingly restored. Then, we ventured into the quaint town of Wray, capturing creative shots of Briege and Colton against the backdrop of their beloved community. We even explored canyons behind the local high school, capturing stunning portraits.

Capturing Moments of Joy and Connection

Returning to the farm, the emotional and beautiful ceremony unfolded with Briege and Colton exchanging heartfelt, handwritten vows. The reception, set in their backyard, showcased Briege's artistic talents as she had personally decorated the entire space. Her dad grilled up burgers, and guests enjoyed games like cornhole, basking in the welcoming atmosphere of Briege and Colton's farm.

As the sun dipped below the horizon and a full moon rose in the east, Briege changed into more casual attire, and we embarked on a sunset session with the newlyweds around their farm. We captured them alongside their rescue farm animals and in a special session beneath the enchanting full moon on the vast plains. Every moment and every connection felt beautifully orchestrated, intentional, and meant to be.

There was laughter, tears, emotional moments, a menagerie of animals, and yes, even a bit of fireball. Yet, at the heart of it all was the radiant love and connection between Briege and Colton, a warmth that enveloped everyone present, including Amy and me.

It was an immense honor to meet these incredible individuals and to be entrusted with capturing the remarkable life they were building together.

Briege and Colton's DIY farm wedding in Wray, Colorado was more than just a celebration—it was a testament to love, commitment, and the beauty of building a life together. From the picturesque landscapes to the heartfelt moments shared with family and friends, their wedding day will be cherished for years to come.
