Epic Sand Dunes Couple's Session

This couples session was unlike anything else I’ve ever shot as a Colorado Elopement Photographer and Videographer. Join us as we delve into the surreal beauty of this iconic Colorado landscape that will be sure to take your breath away with its scope and natural, mysterious beauty.

Exploring the Epic Dunes

Perhaps the word epic is overused. But in some instances it still feels like the absolute correct term to describe part of life. And uh, yeah have you been to the Great Sand Dunes National Park down by Duncan, Colorado because Holyyyyy SHITTTT. They are mind blowing. Still maybe to this day, they are the single craziest landscape I have seen.

Amy and I drove down there with Sarabeth and Payton to explore these mystical dunes and do a couples shoot for them. The sand Dunes are a rather easy four and half hour trip from Denver-so worth it!- gets you there. And another mile and half hike in will get you to the tallest dune in the National Park.

We didn’t do the hike. Nor rent a sand board-so no recommendations there, but we did find a secluded piece of dunes all to ourselves to set up have a picnic and to take some fucking rad, epic, beautiful, photos of these two. And we did just that.

Capturing Rad Moments

We had not planned for a whole lot for this shoot other than to just experience the majesty of the Sand Dunes with S and P and thats exactly what we did. Having never seen the Great Sand Dunes National Park before, we were all quite blown away. We hiked around a tad until we found a valley in the dunes that we could have all to ourselves and set up a little picnic for P & S. They had brought some wine and some snacks and that is how we began.

After everyone had a little vino in their bellies and the sun had set more, we began taking some photos and they were Unreal! S & P fully embraced the moment and ran around the dunes as if it were a dream. With snow-capped peaks in the back, stunning soft light as the sun set behind the dunes and the love of this couple, this session felt anything like work.

Memories in the Sand Lands

As the sun really began to set, and everyone began growing weary from hiking and running around in the massive dunes, we decided to call it a night but the memories from this session would live on forever in all of us. We shared beverages together and possibly all shot gunned a beer as well. We could not have asked for a more perfect adventure day and engagement session than the one we had that day at The Great Sand Dunes National Park and the to be honest, the photos - while rad as hell- do not do this place or the time we had justice.

As we bid farewell to the Great Sand Dunes, we carry with us the memories of an epic engagement session amidst nature's grandeur. With gratitude to Sarabeth and Payton for their adventurous spirit and willingness to explore, their love story remains etched in the sands of time, a testament to the beauty of love amidst the majestic landscapes of Colorado.
